Aromatics Hydrogenation over Alumina Supported Mo and NiMo Hydrotreating Catalysts

Abstract

The effect of H2S on the toluene hydrogenation activities of sulfided Mo, NiMo and NiMoP/alumina catalysts has been determined at 6 MPa, 350°C over a large range of H2S partial pressure. Similar trends are found for the three catalysts with in particular no effect of H2S at high partial pressure. Comparison of the hydrogenation activities of the unpromoted and promoted catalysts shows that H2S has an influence on the promotion effect of Ni with a maximum at medium H2S partial pressure.
