Abstract

Yarn has an intermediary position in the manufacturing of woven or knitted fabric, which is produced from different types of yarn. Most of the fibers used for the manufacturing of yarns are hygroscopic in nature and their characteristics change considerably with the change of moisture in the air. A yarn is normally classified as a fine fiber strand of adequate length, which may comprise either continuous filaments laid in parallel or staple fibers twisted together. A continuous filament yarn is made up of more than one filament and aligned parallel to a very small amount of twist. A yarn's tensile property can be defined as the maximum force/load that is required to break the material. The visual indication of unevenness of yarn can be found by plotting the line showing mean value and thus comparing the scatter of individual readings.
