Electromagnetic Linkages in Soft Tissue Wound Healing

Abstract

Starting with an overview of the wound healing process, the author explains the requirements for designing a proper strategy for wound healing and an adequate choice of magnetic/ electromagnetic stimulation. The chapter demonstrates the successful use of this modality for treatment of venous, arterial-ischemic, diabetes-related, and pressure ulcers. Finally, possible mechanisms of action and potential physiological targets for EMF therapy are discussed.
