Manganese Oxide Nanoparticles Electrodeposited on Platinum Are Superior to Platinum for Oxygen Reduction

Abstract

Die Orientierung von adsorbierten O2-Molekülen ändert sich von einer parallelen Ausrichtung an einer reinen Pt-Elektrode (oben; O weiß, Pt gelb) zu einer Mischung von parallelen und End-on-Ausrichtungen (unten) an einer Pt-Oberfläche, die durch die Elektroabscheidung von Manganoxid-Nanopartikeln (schwarz) modifiziert wurde. Dies führt zu einer dichteren Belegung mit O2-Molekülen und macht die modifizierte Elektrode zu einem überlegenen Elektrokatalysator für die O2-Reduktion.
