Abstract

Advances in Automotive Telematics are transforming road-based travel throughout the world. Automotive Telematics underlies why and how our cars, trucks, and other vehicles are becoming smarter, safer, and heading toward independence. Technology innovations inside and outside the vehicles are rapidly transforming transportation industries as well as commuter driving habits. Inside each vehicle, the emphasis on elaborate infotainment systems are giving way to surveillance and safety, sparking significant changes in the insurance industry. Experiments continue with autonomous driving, hydrogen fuel-cell systems, and electric hybrid models with implications for sustainability and reducing the environmental impact of automobiles worldwide.
