With the rapid development of information and communication technology, network users begin to pay attention to the virtual representation of each user, which urgently needs effective personalization. This problem can be solved by a comprehensive description of the user. This demonstration is called user profile or user portrait. Many reviews on user profile have been conducted and our study is a survey and demonstration of the dimensions in user profile which is based on age, gender, interest/preference, personality, location and time used by recommender system and social networks . The author reviewed the current research, summarized the overview from demographic and spatiotemporal dimensions, and analyzed the characteristic types used to describe different uses in our daily life.
