Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Sinter-Post-Hiped SI3N4-SIC Composites

Abstract

Si3N4/SiC nanocomposites were fabricated through sinter-post-HIP process. The influence of sinter-post-HIP process parameters on the densification, microstructure, and mechanical properties of Si3N4-SiC nanocomposites was investigated. The effect of SiC particles on microstructure and mechanical properties were evaluated. Short-crack propagation behavior was measured and analyzed by deconvolution of the Vickers Indentation Strength in Bending (ISB) data of monolithic and composites.
