Abstract

A simple double U-shaped magneto-electric dipole antenna (MEA) with a wide bandwidth is presented. The antenna feed employs a coplanar waveguide (CPW) to parallel strip (PS) transition to obtain balanced feed. Full-wave simulations show fractional IBW $\boldsymbol{(\vert \mathrm{S}_{11}\vert \leq-10\text{dB})}$ of 64.18% with realized gain being 6.44 $\boldsymbol{\pm 1.65\ \text{dBi}}$ for 21.07 to 40.98 GHz. It exhibits stable radiation pattern with total efficiency of 88 -99 % and low broadside cross-polarization levels. The antenna profile and footprint measure $\mathbf{0.24}\lambda_{0}$ and $\mathbf{0.87}\lambda_{0}^{2}$ at $\boldsymbol{\mathrm{f}_{0}=31.025}$ GHz.
