Home security is one of the significant requirements of human race. People want to feel that their homes are secure when they go away. There have been many attempts to implement such security systems in the past, but they all come with their own share of problems. Most of these problems came under the borders of trade-off between cost and reliability. Some were found to be very reliable yet costly and others sacrificed their system accuracy to become cost effective. We propose a system that uses HOG algorithm to implement vision-based security that yields a perfect balance between cost and reliability. The test was conducted in a residential apartment and the results were satisfactory.
