Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication has recently attracted considerable attention from the both industry and research community owing to its various use cases that will change our future lives. Recently, the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has published a fifth-generation (5G) New Radio (NR)-based V2X standard targeting connected and automated driving use cases. Sidelink (SL) is a key enabler for the V2X, and 3GPP has been carrying out various standardization activities related to SL, including SL-based relaying. Meanwhile, we are developing an SL-based mobile relaying technique for performance enhancement of a 5G NR-based millimeter-wave (mmWave)-band vehicular communications. In this paper, we present a brief overview of the physical-layer design of SL mobile relaying and evaluate its link-level performance.
