X band Series-Fed Microstrip Patch Antenna Array

Abstract

Design of a series-fed microstrip patch antenna array for X-band applications is proposed and experimentally validated. Initial design parameters are analytically calculated based on the transmission-line model. The array parameters are then optimized using full-wave numerical simulations to maximize the array performance. Distribution of current amplitudes is shown and used for the computation of the array factor. The array design is validated by measurements.
