We are very interested in watching the progress of the extension of the field for women's labour in New South Wales and the sister colonies. Our Australian mothers have at last come to see the necesssity of having their daughters taught some kind of calling or profession which shall fit them to face and battle with the world, and to be a help instead of a hindrance to their parents, and generally we find the girls eagertand anxious to take up some work which will render them independent and allow them to assist their parents. Last week we visited the Business College conducted by Mrs. Clarenoe White in King Street Arcade, and were shown many things which give employment to girls, Typewriting, Art Painting, Needlework, and we were also informed that Shorthand classes are about to be formed, and last but not least the Photography Classes. We are glad to know that a number of our girls .are taking up Photography as a profession, they are taught this art in every branch, this will fit them for positions in Photographic galleries and give them an advantage over those who have made a specialty of one branch alone. There are several other kinds of employment taught which our space will not allow us here to describe.
