The high cost of solar photovoltaic systems, as well as the noise pollution and unpredictability of the wind energy, make them less appealing in areas with power grid access. However, in areas without access to the power grid, there is a strong desire to use renewable energy sources such as solar and wind energy systems. A photovoltaic (PV) system and a wind power system create DC and AC power, respectively. The primary issue with installing a PV system is that it cannot operate at night or on cloudy days when there is no sunshine to generate electricity. Furthermore, due of the wind's variability, the primary difficulty with wind energy is its lack of reliability. To address these issues, this paper proposes a hybrid solar/wind energy system that converts sunlight and wind energy into electrical energy. The output power of both energy sources is simulated using MATLAB Simulink.
