Design of the Soft Pressure Sensor Based on Liquid Metal

Abstract

In this paper, a resistance type soft pressure sensor is designed by using silicon rubber and gallium-indium-tin alloy. The sensor has the advantages of simple structure and convenient production, which can be used for force sensing in wearable devices and the hands of flexible manipulator. Here, the fabrication process of the sensor is presented and a new structure of force amplification layer added to the original sensor structure is proposed. The simulation results show that adding the amplifying layer structure makes the deformation of the microchannel more obvious and can be better measured. Finally, the function of the designed sensor is verified by simple experiment.
