An Overview of Acceleration Detection in Inertial Navigation Systems

Abstract

Accelerometers, along with gyros are the basis of inertial navigation systems, these being the main components of the inertial detection unit. This paper presents an overview of the main categories of accelerometers currently available, as well as a market statistic for this segment. It is also presented a current situation in a pandemic context, and how much this inconvenience could influence the future market. The three types of accelerometers reviewed here, are presented at the level of operating principles and general equations.
