Abstract

In this study, we design a prototype of flapping MAV to simulate features of dragonfly. We have observed dragonfly in the lifting, cruising, and hovering flight to clarify characteristics of them. We reflect a result of the observation to the design of flapping MAV. Besides we succeeded in free flight by using designed MAV. This paper presents the overview of dragonfly’s observation, flapping mechanism, design of flapping MAV, experimental setups, and experimental results.
