One-Step Synthesis of Magnetic Hydrogel Microparticles Based on Acoustic Microfluidics

Abstract

We proposed a simple and easy approach for the one-step synthesis of magnetic calcium alginate hydrogel microparticles using one surface acoustic waves droplets microfluidics device. By adjusting the input parameters of the interdigital transducer, the magnetic droplets with different size can be generated on demand. Then the prepared magnetic droplets were cross-linked after crossing the oil/water interface induced by gravity force, and the calcium alginate magnetic microparticles with tadpoles shape were generated effectively. The magnetic hydrogel microparticles may have important application potential in cell manipulation and medical diagnosis due to its good controllability.
