A broadband circularly polarized dielectric resonator antenna (CP DRA) with L-shaped dielectric resonator strips (DRS) is presented. The antenna is composed of a square DR, four L-shaped DRS and a square ground plane etched with cross-slot. A stepped-microstrip feeding line is used to adjust the impedance bandwidth (IBW). It is noted that not only the interaction of the cross-slot and square DR could excite CP resonant points, but the four L-shaped DRS can also stimulate a CP resonant point in high frequency. Through utilizing these resonant modes, the CP bandwidth of the proposed DRA could be enhanced greatly. The measured results depict the designed DRA has a broad −10-dB IBW of 44.7% (2.55, 1.98-3.12 GHz), and a 3-dB axial-ratio bandwidth of 38.7% (2.53, 2.04-3.02 GHz).
