David Watson Warrell

Abstract

David Watson Warrell married Valerie in 1955 and embarked on a career in obstetrics and gynaecology. He became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1958, although his career was challenged for a time by the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis when he was a registrar. As a lecturer in Sheffield in 1963 he completed a doctorate on the investigation and treatment of urinary incontinence in women by using urodynamics, a new development at the time. In 1968 David was appointed as a consultant to St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester, to continue the city’s long association with the treatment of genitourinary problems in women. …
