Supershaped Wideband Dielectric Resonator Antenna Array for Millimeter- Wave Applications

Abstract

This paper presents a novel circular polarized dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) array for millimeter-wave applications at 30 GHz. A flower-supershaped DRA fed with a cross-slot is used as the array element. Using this DRA, a 2×2 array is designed and it is fed by a sequential feeding network combined with cross slots, to obtain circular polarization. A wide resonance bandwidth from 27 GHz to 38 GHz frequency band is obtained. The proposed antenna has a left-hand circular polarization (LHCP) with 3 dB axial ratio at 30 GHz and a peak gain of 9.2 dB.
