Rule-based Energy Management Strategies for a Fuel Cell-Battery Hybrid Locomotive

Abstract

To Figure out a feasible and more efficient energy management strategy for a Fuel Cell-Battery hybrid locomotive, two rule-based strategies including state machine control and fuzzy logic control are analyzed in this paper. To evaluate the strategies, the simulation model of the locomotive powertrain is built, and the rules of two control stratetegies are designed. Finally, the bus voltage stabilization, the hydrogen consumption, the battery state of charge, the fuel cell system efficiency and hybrid system efficiency are compared to get the conclusion.
