The crisis of insecurity that Mexico is going through considers different types of crimes and violence. The drug prohibition regime and a security policy biased towards the coercive combat of drug trafficking to the detriment of other crimes of greater incidence, have proven to be ineffective. This essay analyzes the existing knowledge on these issues and outlines three concrete actions to improve the situation.
