Mercury (II) removal from aqueous solutions using chemically modified polyacrylamide and its copolymers

Abstract

Some of acrylamide copolymers were used to mercury removal from aqueous solutions of HgCl2. The uptake capacity of these prepared copolymers was calculated. The prepared copolymers were identified spectroscopicaly using infrared spectroscopy, the analysis of the resulting treated HgCl2 solution to know the Hg (II) concentration was obtained by using atomic absorption.
