UAV Assisted Vehicular Communication with VLCusing NOMA

Abstract

Visible light communication (VLC) technology has recently found its place in vehicular networks due to the increasing availability of LED lights in automobiles, license free spectrum, high capacity and channel security. In this work, we propose a UAV assisted vehicular network where the UAV provides downlink services to a group cars in the network using NOMA-OFDM-VLC. We demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed system through experiments and computer simulations. We further present optimization of the location of UAV to maximize the SNRs at the receivers and demonstrate improved bit-error-rate (BER) and throughput.
