Abstract

Polymethyltriethoxysilane-polymethylhydrosiloxane superhydrophobic coatings were fabricated on glass substrates by spraying technology, where the precursor mixtures contained polymethyltriethoxysilane nanoparticles obtained by the sol-gel method, and its surface was modified by polymethylhydrosiloxan (PMHS). The structure, morphologies, and hydrophobic properties of the superhydrophobic coatings were investigated by the infrared spectrometer, scanning electron microscope, and water contact angle measurement. Moreover, the effects of component ratio, solvent amount, and reaction time on the coating hydrophobic properties were investigated. 1:1.2 of component ratio, 60 mL of solvent, and 8 h of reaction time were the optimal experimental parameters, and the water contact angle of this coating was about 153°. Meanwhile, polymethyltriethoxysilane-polymethylhydrosiloxane coating showed good thermal stability and self-cleaning property. The excellent superhydrophobicity of the coating might result from the micro-nano rough structure. The results presented in this work might provide a simple, low-cost, and environmentally-friendly approach for application in the fields of anti-sticking, anticontamination, and self-cleaning to anti-corrosion.
