Simplified Compensation Circuit Using Simultaneous Emission Driving Method for High-resolution AMOLED Displays

Abstract

This work presents a new pixel circuit based on low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) thin-film transistors (TFTs) for use in high-resolution active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) displays. The proposed circuit with the simultaneous emission driving scheme increases the compensation time for accurate detection of variations, successfully compensating for threshold voltage (V TH ) variations of the driving TFT and I-R voltage drop in power lines. Simulation results reveal that relative current error rates are below 4.45% and 3.06%, respectively, as variations in V TH are ±0.5 V and the deviation from V DD is 0.5 V, confirming that the proposed circuit has the potential to be used in high-resolution AMOLED displays.
