Pseudo color image fusion based on rattlesnake's visual receptive field model

Abstract

Based on the mathematical model of rattlesnake's visual receptive field and the mechanism of dual mode cells, this paper designs a pseudo color image fusion structure based on rattlesnake's visual receptive field model. In this paper, the infrared image and the visible light image are processed by the ON-opponent system and the OFF-opponent system, and the R, G and B components of the fusion image are respectively obtained, and then the pseudo color fusion image is output. Finally, the two sets of source images are fused by the Waxman method and the method proposed in this paper, and the fusion results are evaluated by two evaluation criteria: information entropy and average gradient. The experimental results show that the fusion image obtained by this method has better visual effect, closer to natural color, more prominent target and better scene details than the original Waxman method. The combined effect has been improved.
