The desirable Precise Point Positioning (PPP) and navigational services require error-free satellite carrier phase measurements as a slip of few cycles are enough to introduce error in position estimation. Thus the identification and removal of ambiguities presence in the carrier phase measurements known as cycle-slip play significant role in satellite data processing prior to positioning. To avoid the delay and complexity of data processing for determining and correcting the cycle slips, an intensive research has been done in the previous years and yet there is need of improvement in approaches due to requirement of millimeter level accuracy in geodetic applications. This paper provides a detail discussion about the merits and limitations of the existing algorithms for resolving the cycle slips in order to identify the gap for the development of an efficient algorithm in the accurate positioning solutions.
