Low RCS Polarization-Insensitive Ultra Wideband Absorber Based on Resistive Metasurface

Abstract

In this paper, an ultra-wideband polarization-insensitive absorber based on resistive metasurface is presented. The proposed structure exhibits more than 90% absorption bandwidth from 8.29 GHz to 15.67 GHz. A unique combination of circular sector and resistance provides high absorption bandwidth over ultra-wideband spectrum. Besides, four-fold symmetry of the structure enables polarization insensitivity under normal incidence and slots between two consecutive rising arms of resonators keep the angle insensitive performance for TE and TM polarization up to 50° for more than 90% absorption bandwidth. Moreover, the surface current distribution reveals the physical mechanism of mutual electromagnetic couplings. In addition, 10 dB RCS Reduction is discussed mathematically by using Co- and Cross polarized reflection component of the incident wave.
