Weighted Fusion Scheme for Cooperative Spectrum Sensing

Abstract

Cognitive Radio is an able candidate, which can alleviate the spectrum underutilization problem through Opportunistic Spectrum Access. The sensing of spectrum is the first step to be performed by cognitive radio to enable opportunistic access. The Cooperative Spectrum Sensing improves sensing performance by combining the sensing information from multiple cognitive radios. The Sensing information is collected at the Fusion Center and processed by some rules of fusion like OR rule etc. Here in this manuscript, we propose a new fusion method, which is distinct from the existing rules in a way that it gives more weight to the decision of cognitive radio, which is having more confidence in its decision. We have carried out Monte-Carlo simulations for comparing the proposed scheme to the existing fusion rules.
