Abstract

Anaerobic baffled filter reactor (ABFR) used for treating domestic wastewater to reduce the pollutant before the wastewater reuse or discharge into the water environment. In this study, the down-flow filter was added in ABR to perceive the quality of the effluent of BOD, TSS, TKN, TP, and TC concentration reduction. ABFR is a combination of ABR filter with filter media in its several compartments. The reactor's size of 75 × 20 × 45 cm, consisted of 6 compartments, 2 of which were filter compartments. Raw wastewater taken from decentralized wastewater treatment (DWT) in Kampong Bareng, Malang used for the object of this research. Test results revealed that the concentration reduction efficiency using down-flow ABFR of BOD, TSS, TKN, TP, and TC was 94.13%, 97.11%, 72.18%, 43.17%, and 51% respectively.
