ACTITUDES HACIA LA PROBABILIDAD Y SU ENSEÑANZA: UN ESTUDIO EXPLORATORIO CON PROFESORES DE MATEMÁTICA EN FORMACIÓN Y EN EJERCICIO DE CHILE

Abstract

Resumen En este trabajo se analiza los resultados de una escala de actitudes hacia la probabilidad y su ensenanza en una muestra de 70 profesores de matematica en ejercicio y 51 profesores en formacion de educacion media. La actitud es positiva en los profesores, aunque es levemente mejor en profesores en ejercicio y con experiencia docente. No hallamos diferencia por genero y segun el establecimiento educacional. No obstante, se evidencia que el profesor de matematica valora la utilidad y relevancia de la probabilidad en la vida personal y profesional. El estudio sugiere la necesidad de indagar en una estrategia didactica que propicie la mejora de la actitud en esta materia. ATTITUDES TOWARDS PROBABILITY AND ITS TEACHING: AN EXPLORATORY STUDY WITH PRESERVICE AND INSERVICE MATHEMATICS TEACHERS FROM CHILE Abstract In this paper we analyse the results of a scale of attitudes toward probability and its teaching of a sample of 70 mathematics teachers and 51 training. The attitude is generally positive among these teachers, although it is slightly better among those teachers which have teaching experience. We didn´t find any difference by gender or place of work. However, it becomes evident that mathematics teachers value the usefulness and relevance of probability on a professional level as well as on a personal level. This research suggests the need for investigating a didactic strategy which fosters the improvement of attitudes towards this subject.
