Reinforcing Security of Medical Data using Blockchain

Abstract

Data security and privacy is one of the most crucial design parameter in any kind of modern application. The rate of connected devices is increasing day by day hence enhancing the security becomes a challenge. The healthcare industry faces many losses due to poor security design in data sharing and access management. Today most of the security is ensured leveraging cryptography alone, but blockchain has become another solution for security and privacy. Blockchain can be used as decentralized trust and a provider of universal truth across the application. Blockchain also utilizes cryptography in itself makes it more secure and trust able, hence the proposed solution uses combination of blockchain and cryptography to reinforce patient data permissions and sharing. Blockchain also enables to become compliant of various data protection and privacy rules.
