Error Rate Analysis of MPSK Signals over Fluctuating Beckmann Fading Channel

Abstract

It is proposed to study the performance of Mary phase shift keying (MPSK) signals over the Fluctuating Beckmann (FB) fading model. The FB fading model considers the clustering of multipath waves on which the line of sight (LoS) components randomly fluctuate, together with the effect of in-phase/quadrature power imbalance in the LoS and nonLoS components. Thus it unifies a variety of important fading distributions as the one-sided Gaussian, Rayleigh, κ-μ, η-μ, η-κ, Beckmann, Rician shadowed and κ-μ shadowed distribution. In this paper, an approximate closed-form expression for average symbol error rate (SER) of MPSK signals over FB fading is derived. Analytical results are presented to study the performance of MPSK scheme. Analytical results shows that the performance of MPSK scheme improves with an increase in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for different values of fading/shadowing parameters.
