Embedded circularly polarized waveguide antenna based on quartz dielectric

Abstract

In this letter, a circularly polarized waveguide antenna based on dielectric material is presented. By embedding a quartz dielectric in a conventional waveguide and using a hemispherical dielectric radiator, the proposed antenna can achieve circularly polarized radiation. The final designed and optimized antenna achieves both S(1,1)<; -10dB and AR<; 3dB from 90GHz to 105GHz. The simulated gain of the designed antenna reaches 14.3dBic to 15.4dBic. And the simulated radiation efficiency can reach above 94%. Circularly polarized radiation can be realized by embedding pyramidal dielectric into metal waveguide.
