The present work aims to evaluate the active internal power loss and also the measurement deviations in distorted and unbalanced conditions for electromechanical and electronic meters. About the active internal power loss of meters, there is a big difference between the values standardized by different existing regulations. Under the need to verify which values would be more consistent with the actual internal power loss, tests were performed on different meters using a precision wattmeter for possible adjustment of the normative values. Finally, studies about measurement deviations realizes by the scientific community show that meters may operate improperly in distorted and unbalanced environments, as such devices are designed to operate in sinusoidal and balanced environments, which does not correspond to the reality of the electrical system. Based on the above, a total of 32 calibration tests were performed for each meter tested. In both analyzes, internal power loss and measurement deviations, a significant number of meters were used, representing almost the totality of models used for measurement in Brazil today, thus giving greater robustness to the work.
