Design of Multiband Circular Patch Antenna with Defected Ground Structure

Abstract

Concentration has been drawn by microstrip U-shape slotted patch antennas in a range of wireless applications since last 2-3 decades. Geometry of proposed antenna encompasses of circular patch and three U slots are etched on radiating element. To obtain the broadband bandwidth, the proposed defected ground structure antenna is designed and its simulation results are presented. Length and width of slot, radius of patch are the design parameters. For the idea of design and fabrication, FR4 epoxy substrate is used which have dielectric constant 4.4. Coaxial feed line is used to agitate the antenna. ANSOFT HFSS is the software used and return loss, VSWR, radiation pattern and gain are evaluated. At all frequencies impedance matching is well (VSWR<; 2). At 0.46GHz, 4.62GHz, 6.73GHz gain is about 7.59dB, 3.87dB, 6.33dB respectively.
