A 28GHz Millimeter-Wave Antenna Array with SIW Feeding Network

Abstract

In this paper, an 8-element linear antenna array with substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) feeding network is proposed. The operating frequency is 28 GHz, and the bandwidth is 2 GHz. The antenna array element contains 8 printed dipoles in half-wavelength spacing, and the feeding network is composed of a 1-to-8 SIW power splitter and a SIW filter. The connection between the feeding network and the feeding source is implemented by coplanar waveguide-SIW (CPWG-SIW) transition. The measurement results show that the proposed antenna array has an impedance bandwidth of more than 2 GHz, with the reflection coefficient lower than -14 dB in the frequency band of 27-29 GHz, and the half power beam width (HPBW) of H-plane and E-plane are about 108.8 ° and 14.5°, respectively. The proposed antenna array is suitable for 5G millimeter-wave systems.
