Abstract

The renewable energy sources have already begun to be utilized all around the globe for clean energy. For renewable power sources such as fuel cells and PV cells, the output voltage levels are usually low. So, high-voltage-boost dc-dc converters are required and the output dc voltage level should be sufficiently high so as to be inverted to the required AC value. This paper presents an interleaved boost converter and the applications of dc-dc converters are discussed along with various techniques used for boosting output voltage. For high voltage step-up at high power level, interleaved boost converters are suitable as they provide reduced ripple in input current which increases the life of renewable energy devices. Simulations have been carried out on various high voltage step-up interleaved boost converters and the results are compared with that of previously proposed converters.
