Abstract

This paper presents a wideband miniaturized implantable antenna operating at the industrial, scientific, and medical band (902–928 MHz) and a short-range band (868-868.6 MHz) for telemetry applications. A biocompatible and flexible material named Rogers ULTRALAM 3850HT (ε r =3.14, tanδ=0.002) is used as substrate and superstrate. This antenna with the thickness of 0.2mm and high flexibility can be used for capsule endoscopy. This antenna is proposed by applying slots in radiating patch and ground plane with introducing a shorting pin technique. This antenna has the miniaturized volume of 7mm × 7mm × 0.2mm with a size of 9.8 mm 3 , It has the bandwidth of 156 MHz ranging from 844 to 1000 MHz having a maximum gain of -24.9 dBi.
