The availability of e-participation service is an important part of e-government. This service is expected to accommodate community participation in the local development. The Rembugan Jateng is an e-participation system currently available in Central Java Province. However, its existence has not been widely used by the community in proposal submission to the government. In this paper, we present a practical case study of user experience research in e-government. The redesign of the Rembugan Jateng system has been carried out using the User-Centered Design (UCD) approach. After redesigning, the system is evaluated using the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ). Experimental results obtained from 16 respondents show an increase in the user experience scores. The attractiveness, perspicuity (convenience for users), efficiency (efficiency or speed and neatness of a product), dependability (reliability and accuracy), stimulation (the level of user interest in the product), and novelty (an aspect of innovation or novelty) increase by 0.12, 0.40, 0.2, 0.03, 0.08 and 0.42, respectively. In future, we expect that an increase in user experience scores will increase the number of community proposal for development in Central Java, Indonesia.
