Square Spiral Microstrip Patch Antenna

Abstract

Our project describes the analysis and design of square spiral microstrip patch antenna for multi band frequencies. As compared with old conventional antennae, microstrip patch antennae have more advantages and better prospects. Such antennae are light-weighted, circularly polarized and can be easily fabricated. They have smaller dimensions and lower volume. Simulation is done on 'Computer Simulation Technology (CST)' software and project hardware are implemented as well. Both simulation and hardware results show notches at two different frequencies; quite deep notch is present at our operating frequency of 2.4GHz. The radiation pattern shows one main lobe and no side lobes. Moreover, our designed antenna shows good impedance matching at 50ohm, accepted gain, directivity and return loss, less reflection coefficient, desirable s-parameter and VSWR, radiation pattern for operating frequency and bandwidth. In the light of above-mentioned experiment outcomes, we can say that our antenna is fabricated for multiband frequencies. Less reflection leads to more power transmission. Absence of side lobes and presence of main lobe indicates minimum wastage of energy with all incoming wave propagating in forward direction.
