Objective: To identify the approaches of physical fitness in the school environment and to analyze the studies that use physical fitness in schoolchildren in Chile. Methodology: A literature review of physical fitness in children and adolescents in Chile was carried out. The documentary technique was used for the bibliographical consultation. The topics analyzed in this review have to do with conceptual aspects, evaluation indicators, importance for assessing the levels of Physical Fitness in the school population and studies carried out in Chile. Conclusion: Physical fitness should not only be approached from the point of view of health and sports performance, but also of school performance, since studies have shown that physically active children with adequate levels of physical fitness show better cognitive performance, Keywords: physical fitness, fitness, children, adolescents, school.
