Enhanced Energy Efficient Power Allocation Algorithm for Massive MIMO Systems

Abstract

This paper proposes a modified power allocation algorithm that enhances the energy efficiency and capacity of Massive MIMO systems. The proposed algorithm operates as follows. First, the channels of the Massive MIMO system are decoupled into many equivalent subchannels using singular-value decomposition and their eigenvalues computed. Next, a series of mathematical transformations are performed on the eigenvalues. Finally, the transmission power is allocated based on the obtained mathematical results. Computer simulations conducted in the Rician fading channel verify that the proposed algorithm enhances the spectral and energy efficiency of Massive MIMO systems without increasing the transmission bandwidth and transmission power. Thus, it is suitable and valuable for research and practical engineering solutions.
