Fiber-Optic Fabry-Perot Interferometric Sensor for Pulse Wave Registration

Abstract

The paper presents a fiber-optic pulse wave sensor based on extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometer. The interferometer is formed by the end faces of optical fibers, glued to a glass capillary. The sensor was interrogated by means of spectral interferometry approach. The features of the pulse wave signal as small as 100 pm were clearly observed in the demodulated waveform. The proposed sensor can be used for medical diagnostics and vital signs monitoring.
