Photoelectrochemical Property of Iron (III) Oxide Thin Film Prepared by Sol-Gel Process

Abstract

Iron(m》 oxide {Fe203) thin film wa8 prepared on ITO-depo8ited glass substrates by so1-gel method。 The 8tarting 8018 were obtained by the partial hydroly8i8 0f iron(皿D tributoxide in the pre8ence and absence of acetylacetone。 Dopant8 (alkoxide8 0f Si(IV)and Mg(m)were added before hydrolysis。 The film8 were characterized to be amorphou8 Fe203 by ultraviolet and vi8ible 8pectro8copy, X-raydiffraction,differentialtherma1巳naly8i8,andthermalgravimetry,Photoanodic current observed in neutral aqueou8 solution increased in the following Qrder; (Mg-doped》 〈 (undoped》 〈 (Si-doped). Corrosion of the films by cathodic polarization wa80b8erved in the dark. Action 8pectrum revealed that both direct and indirect band-gap excitation caused the photocurrent、
