THE PROPERTIES OF CADMIUM OXIDE-CARBON NANOTUBE NANOCOMPOSITE SYNTHESIZED VIA SOL-GEL METHOD

Abstract

In this study, cadmium oxide based carbon nanotube reinforced materialwas produced and the optical and electrical properties of the obtainedcomposite were investigated. After the carbon nanotubes used as reinforcementmaterial were synthesized using the chemical vapor deposition method, they weresupplemented at different ratios to the commercially available cadmium oxidepowders. As another group of samples; cadmium oxide powders were synthesized bythe sol-gel method and the carbon nanotubes were again supplemented atdifferent ratios. Synthesized carbon nanotubes were subjected to TransmissionElectron Microscope examination. Composite materials obtained were examined by ScanningElectron Microscope. Then, the changes in the electrical conductivity of thecomposites obtained by temperature were measured. The optical properties of thecomposites were determined by taking UV-vis spectrometers.
