This study presents the construction of the Community Participation Questionnaire (CPC) for urban adult population. For the analysis of the items, the internal structure of the construct and reliability, we applied to a random sample of 255 residents living in Villa El Salvador district (Lima), aged between 18 and 59 years old, from medium-low or low socioeconomic strata. To examine the validity related to other variables, we considered another sample of 51 inhabitants. The CPC consists of 32 items, with 8 dimensions. Sixteen judges participated and the Aiken’s V values (? .94) were satisfactory. The exploratory factor analysis showed a cumulative total variance of 69.7%, with factor loads greater than .35; likewise, confirmatory factor analysis shows very good adjustment (CFI = .96, GFI = .98, X2/df = 1.35, RMSEA = .03). The coefficients (> .95) theta, omega, H and composite evidence the high reliability of the CPC.
