A CPW-fed compact multi-band planar printed monopole antenna for WLAN/WiMAX applications is presented in this paper. The structure size of antenna is 0.13λ 0 × 0.18λ 0 × 0.01λ 0 , λ 0 is the wavelength of the lowest working band. The proposed antenna is composed of three monopole radiators, the ground with chamfer, and a microstrip feed line. With these structures employed, the antenna can generate three different resonances to cover the desired bands while maintaining low profile and simple structure. The antenna shows three distinct bands I from 2.36 to 2.82 GHz, II from 3.28 to 3.88 GHz, and III from 4.50 to 6.53 GHz, which covers entire WLAN (2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz) and WiMAX (2.5/3.5/5.5 GHz) bands. The proposed antenna possesses compact size, simple structure, high gain and omnidirectional radiation pattern, which make it a suitable candidate used in small/portable WLAN/WiMAX devices.
