Flexible Wearable Antenna based on MIMO Technology

Abstract

In this paper, a bracelet antenna operating at 2.45 GHz industrial scientific medical (ISM) band is proposed based on Multiple Outputs Multiple Inputs (MIMO) technology. To provide better comfort when attached to human body, the proposed MIMO antenna is wrapped into cylinder shape based on flexible polyimide substrate. Besides, to enlarge channel capacitance for better data transmission, three monopole elements are adopted and evenly distributed on the substrate, taking full advantage of the bracelet shape. In this way, good isolation of 18 dB is easily achieved by making use of angle diversity and omnidirectional radiation performance is realized for the proposed MIMO antenna.
